The film Captain America: The First Avenger, which was produced in 2011 and is important to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, began during World War II with a story of Steve Rogers, a thin and sickly boy who is right about justice and patriotism but attempts in vain to join the US army. His persistence however gets him spotted by Dr. Abraham Erskine, the scientist heading a secretive government programme of super-soldier creation.

Steve is chosen for this experiment because he carries a pure heart and is unbending. After being injected with a substance that the scientist has developed himself, though magical one; Steve turns into Captain America – a peak human being. But as Steve becomes the first super soldier in history, there’s an agent from Nazi Germany infiltrates into lab where the operation is going on killing Doctor himself making Steve the only successful product.

At first, his enhanced abilities make Steve hope itself to many people when he performs patriotic shows meant to boost morale. However when Steve learns that Johann Schmidt (AKA Red Skull), leader of Hydra- an evil organization has captured his childhood friend Bucky Barnes; he takes it upon himself to go after them. And so wearing his near indestructible shielded Captain America costume steps out on this dangerous venture with one goal in mind – freeing hostages including Barnes himself.

Steering a series of audacious incursions against Hydra in the guise of Captain America, Steve prevents their attempt to use Tesseract-a mystic relic with immense dangers. On his journey, Steve forms strong friendships with other soldiers who include Peggy Carter, a British officer and love interest while Howard Stark is scientific genius and father to Tony Stark.

The final conflict takes place when Captain America confronts Red Skull on board a huge bomber headed towards the United States. To stop an impending attack by Red Skull, Steve crashes the airplane into the Arctic in what can be termed as a heroic act of selflessness before eventually disappearing into the icy wasteland.

Several years later Steve is found frozen yet alive and awakened in our contemporary world. He wakes up in a completely different planet from where he came however his devotion to duty and valor are not affected one bit which opens way for Avengers participation.
