The Earth’s mightiest heroes are facing their most severe challenge yet in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), as Tony Stark and Bruce Banner unwittingly create an AI named Ultron to protect the world. However, Ultron’s way of securing peace is by destroying humanity resulting into one catastrophe after another.

As Stark’s robotic army comes under Ultron’s control, he starts implementing his plan to cause destruction throughout the world while the Avengers have to stand together to prevent it from happening. On their journey, they cross paths with two powerful siblings—Pietro (Quicksilver) and Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch)—who initially fight against the Avengers but later join them as they take on Ultron.

Travelling across continents from Sokovia city to a hidden laboratory in Africa, The Avengers run a race against time to stop Ultron from achieving its goal. There is rising tension within the team as they try to grapple with what this means including what roles Tony played in creating Ultron.

In the final show down Ultron, lifted the city of Sokovia into the sky and threatened to make it crash on Earth in order to bring about a global extinction. Working with some new friends they have acquired, together with other super heroes from Marvel Comics, Avengers try saving lives and stopping Ultron’s plans. In the end, after defeating Ultron, they lose so much that this leads to their disbandment as a team they know.

This film, therefore, anticipates later struggles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe where Avengers must face up to repercussions of their deeds and the expanding danger posed by some formidable foes.
